Born in Normandy in 1948, Maryvonne POULAIN settled in Paris after her studies where she first developed a passion for dance, both classical and modern. A dramatic accident turned her life upside down.

After a long hospital stay, she lost the use of her left leg. Forced to use a wheelchair, she had to leave the capital and moved to the Var region.
Marked by the consequences of this terrible accident, she dedicated her first outings to discovering numerous painting exhibitions in nearby villages, while spending most of her time drawing.

Through contact with the artists she met at these exhibitions, she gradually developed a passion for painting and took several courses to learn various techniques.

Self-taught, she quickly broke free from the constraints often imposed by teachers and gradually abandoned the brush for the palette knife, a technique better suited to her passionate soul.
